SMMSSL Spring 2012 Organizational Meetings Set

St. Joe Kickers Indoor Soccer Registration
(Oct 20) St. Joe Kickers indoor soccer league is now accepting registration for teams playing in Session One (Nov. 19 - Jan 15). Registration is due by November 6th. For more information and registration forms, visit stjoekickers.com.

College Soccer at Kickers Club
(Oct 10) This Thursday's men's college soccer match between Andrews University and Great Lakes Christian College will be played at the St. Joe Kickers Club in Arden at 5:30pm. There is no admission fee and food and drinks will be available.

State Coaching Course Offered at Kickers
(Oct 5) The St. Joe Kickers Club will host a United States Soccer Federation Class E coaching course on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 9am to 5pm each day. The course will be taught by members of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association. Registration Information

Kickers Sponsor Fundraising Tournament
(Aug 19) A Kick for the Cure ladies 4 v 4 indoor soccer tournament is being sponsored by the St. Joe Kickers Sport Club. All proceeds will be donated to a fund helping local residents obtain breast screening services.

Hope Named Preseason Favorite in First-Ever MIAA Men's Soccer Poll
(Aug 19) Defending co-champion Hope has been chosen the preseason favorite in the MIAA men's soccer race for the 2011 season.

WMU Women's Soccer Begins Play Friday
(Aug 10) The Western Michigan women's soccer team opens the 2011 season hosting Valparaiso on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. for an exhibition match at the WMU Soccer Complex.

Orange County Crowned WPSL Champs
(Jul 31) The Chicago Red Stars (11-2-0) and Orange County Waves (13-1-0) provided plenty of drama. In the end, it was Tanya Taylor's 101st-minute goal that proved to be the difference as the Waves won, 2-1, in overtime to earn the 2011 Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) National Championship on Sunday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.

Bucks Fall 2-1 in Conference Final
(Jul 30) The Thunder Bay Chill repeated as the Premier Developmental League Central Conference champs Saturday night, ousting the top-seeded Michigan Bucks, 2-1, in the conference finals at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas.

WPSL Announces National Semifinal Matchups
(Jul 25) Via their wins in the East & Pacific Conference Finals last night, respectively, the Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves (8-2-3) and the Orange County Waves (11-1-0) have won their way into the 2011 Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) National Championship hosted by the Chicago Red Stars this July 30-31. Those two organizations join the Midwest Conference champion Red Stars (10-1-0) and Sunshine Conference champion Tampa Bay Hellenic (10-1-1) as the four WPSL representatives who will take the field this Saturday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, IL.

Bucks Finish Season with Win, Host Conference Playoffs
(Jul 25) The Bucks trounced the visiting Toronto Lynx 4-0 on Saturday, finishing the season with a 12-2-2 record (38 points), best in the Premier Development League's (PDL) Great Lakes Division and Central Conference. With the win, Michigan was given hosting duties for the Conference semifinals and championship on July 29th and 30th, respectively.

Bucks Edge Fire Premier, Take PDL Division Title
(Jul 21) When the Premier Development League (PDL) schedule was released early this year everyone pointed to the end of the season showdown in Chicago where perennial powerhouses, the Michigan Bucks and Chicago Fire Premier would meet; a game that has historically held playoff implications for both squads. Once again Wednesday night's match was for all the Great Lakes division marbles and then some.

WPSL Playoff Update, Chicago and Tampa Bay In
(Jul 20) In a little over ten days, the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will kick off their 2011 National Championship, hosted by the Chicago Red Stars from July 30-31 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, IL. Out of the four-team tournament, two of the participants have now been decided as the scheduled playoff match between the Midwest Conference champion Red Stars (10-1-0) & Sunshine Conference champion Tampa Bay Hellenic (10-1-1) scheduled for this Sunday has been cancelled.

7 v 7 JV/Varsity Team Camps for Area High Schools
(Jul 18) St Joe Kickers is sponsoring soccer camps for incoming 9th-12th grade girls, and they're still looking to fill two team slots. Monday-Thursday, July 25-29, 5:30-8:30 PM teams will receive one hour of training from top area coaches, one hour of open practice time, and a one-hour scrimmage against another area high school. On Friday teams will compete in a three-game tournament against other area schools. Individual fee is $30 per player which includes a camp t-shirt. The camp will utilize both indoor and outdoor fields. The camp is limited to the first eight teams which sign-up. For information, contact cbhaack@yahoo.com or call 269 449-7281.

Kickers Open Doors for WWC Final
(Jul 15) The St. Joe Kickers Club will be open to the public this Sunday for the Women's World Cup final between the US and Japan.

Bucks Headed to Playoffs for Record 14th Time in 16 Seasons
(Jul 15) The Michigan Bucks 2-0 shutout of the Cincinnati Kings last Saturday guaranteed the Bucks a record 14th trip to the Premier Development League (PDL) playoffs in 16 seasons. As much as a spot in the playoffs would sound good to most PDL teams, the Bucks do not want to give up their season long hold on first place in the Great Lakes division.

WMU Announces Free Coaches Clinic
(Jul 14) Western Michigan University head men's soccer coach Stu Riddle will hold a free training session for those coaching at the 11 v. 11 age levels. The clinic will be held July 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the WMU soccer complex. Contact stu.riddle@wmich.edu for more information. You must register in advance to attend.

Chicago to Host WPSL National Championship
(Jul 14) Those post-season bound member teams in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) can now set their sights on the destination where they will compete for the WPSL title. The Chicago Red Stars are set to host the 2011 WPSL National Championship on Saturday-Sunday, July 30-31 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in west suburban Lisle, IL.

Middle School Girls Kicking Cancer
(May 16) Two Mattawan games on Friday, 05/20 are being shuffled a bit. The opponents are flip flopping so Coloma is now playing Mattawan Gold and Upton 1 is playing Mattawan Blue. In addition, these games are going to be a "Coaches vs. Cancer" event. Mattawan is wearing pink and Coloma and Upton will be wearing pink socks. They are selling Kicking Cancer t-shirts and have sold close to 200 so far. 50% of proceeds going to American Cancer Society and the other 50% will go to Alex. He is a boy from St. Joe with brain cancer.
